DEWAN BAHADUR SETH LAKSHMI NARAYAN RAM GOPAL

Dewan Bahadur’s father, Seth Subkanan, was a small trader in the village of Rajura (Adilabad District). Dewan Bahadur moved to Secunderabad and started business on a small scale. Ram Gopal liberally subscribed to the War Loan and the Imperial Relief Fund. In 1901 he built a temple known as Hanuman temple on the Hussain Sagar bund.

He also built a pavilion in 1899 at Fateh Maidan in the name of Nawab Mir Mahboob Ali Khan Nizam VI, known as Mahboobia Stand. The beautiful pavilion was dismantled at the time of the construction of the present Lal Bahadur Stadium. He built Dharmasalas at Bezwada in 1925, endowed a maternity ward at the Civil Hospital, Secunderabad, and in 1919 he built an Industrial School also.

The Clock Tower at Secunderabad was also built by him. Seth Ram Gopal died on 18 June, 1923 at the age of 73. His son, Seth Latchmi Narayan , who was born at Secunderabad continued the good work started by his father. The famous Ram Gopal Mills near the Tank Bund, Secunderabad was started by him.
