Captain Nawab Sir Muhammad Ahrnad Sayeed Khan of Chattari, K.C.S.1.. K.C.l.E., M.B.E. belonged to the well-known Rajput clan of l.al-khanis of Bulandshahr district. Born in I)ecemher, 1888 in Rohtak district of’ the present Haryana, educated at M.A.O. College, Aligarh, he vas well versed in Urdu and Persian, besides being a Hafii, i.e. OflC who knows the Holy Quran by heart. In April 1933, Nawab Saheb was appointed Governor of Uttar Pradesh in the absence of Sir Malcolm Hailey. During the first world war he was awarded M.B.E., C.I.E., in 1928, K.C.I.E.. and K.C.S.I. in 1933. He served as the Prime Minister of Hvderahad from 1941 to 1946 and again for a short period during November, 1947.
