Among those who had contributed towards the financial prosperity and commercial activity of Secunderahad, Siddamsetty Chandriah occupies a prominent place. He was born on 18 August, 1882 and was endowed with a rare business acumen.

By dint of hard work and honest endeavours he secured the contract of Abkari (Excise) Department. He was one of the biggest Abkari contractors in the State. Unostentatiously, without pomp and publicity he distributed large sums of money to the poor and needy. He was popular and highly respected in the city. He had two sons, Madhava Rao and Rajeshwar Rao.
